The lost images and some GOOD news

Have been really busy these past months, so busy in fact it’s hard to know where to start in the mornings. And amongst all that busy-ness I’ve spent a lot of time with family but not for the best of reasons. I wont get in to details but will say that I’ve been re-evaluating life in general. The time we spend here and what we can do to have a healthy and fulfilling time while we are here.

Finally I have started uploading to Getty Images Flickr page. Was invited to join earlier this month. They have chosen over 30 images but not all are high enough resolution. So replacing them the low res has become a real mission. Searching the old hard drives would be easy, even fun if I actually filed photographs properly. And something else I should’ve done is delete 80 % of the images because I will never use them, or look at them. My own worst enemy.

ImageI read a friend of mines blog now and then. He swears by archiving all his photographs on DVD. He has hard drives, backing up hard drives but says to burn to DVD and store them in your library is the safest back up. No need to touch them at all because he works off the hard drives but eventually hard drives simply stop working. He does have a pint but man, that would take me months to sort out. I’m a slacker.

Heard the news I’ve been waiting to hear for years. We got the funding to make my feature film! Such a buzz knowing that after a decade of writing and developing the script and skills and eye and everything i need, I’m going to make my film. Pre-production in Dec 12, shoot in Feb-March 13.

The film is called The Pā Boys’ about a band and their girlfriends touring small town New Zealand, up the East Coast and on to Te Reinga (Cape Reinga) at the tip of the North Island.

Of course it’s about much more than that. One of the tag lines we thought of was, “It’s about life, Death and fucking good music.”

Excited isn’t the word. Will keep you all up to date about that for sure.

Hikitia is the name of an old floating crane on the waterfront in Wellington. Appropriately named as Hikitia means to uplift

Otherwise I’ve been doing too many free photo shoots for people. I don’t mind the family, community shoots. Will always do them. But the amount of time it takes out of my days is overwhelming. I’m supposed to be working. For money. Sort of. I’m actually writing a documentary treatment, re building my website, and advertising my business and building more of an online presence as a photographer, videographer.

Will try catch up on some blog reading (-:
